Originally from New Zealand, Simon has been in the audio industry for more than 25 years and is the most highly awarded sound designer in the region. Constantly working on major campaigns with all of the world's biggest Advertising agencies., He has produced soundtracks for Toyota, Lexus, VW, Nike, Boags, Hahn, Tooheys, Smirnoff and Sony. In his spare time Simon loves to indulge his nomadic yearnings, where you will find him taking photos and film on motorbike journeys throughout the Himalayas, Mexico and the deserts of Morocco.
Hamish Macdonald // Global Executive Producer
Hamish’s international experience spans both short and long format content and with more than 17 years’ experience in advertising, production and post-production, Hamish has notched up an enviable amount of expertise in managing and developing post & production companies throughout Australia, London and Asia.
With a firm grasp of the creative and technical aspects of the industry, combined with a passion for innovation, Hamish has a fundamental focus on delivering the highest creative results and driving future growth.
Having also joined Nylon Studios as a partner, Hamish believes deeply in the power and importance of music and sound design to drive our emotional dynamics, and between the artistic skills and talents of our Sydney and New York teams, he feels the future is bright in the world of sound!
Karla Henwood // Executive Producer
Karla has been working in and around the advertising and music industry for nearly 15 years. Starting in dispatch at an advertising agency she worked her way into the creative department where she scribbled on blank paper for about 5 years. Having a musical background she naturally gravitated across to producing at a recording studio that specialized in music for post and advertising. That later lead her to work for legendary record company, and home to AC/DC, Albert Music were she managed their recording studios. With a Masters degree in Arts Management under her belt, the call came to submerge herself back into the world of music for advertising and Nylon were lucky enough to have her join their team.
Christina Carlo // Executive Producer
A native Brooklynite raised on Long Island, Christina’s eclectic love of music stemmed from her flower child Mother and doo-wop singing Father, who filled the car with their musical stylings on family road trips. She surely knew Jim Morrison and Dion and the Belmonts before Barbie and Rainbow Brite, and this passion for music accelerated the moment she hit the central New York airwaves as a radio DJ in college. Her appreciation of all genres encouraged her to broadcast a wide variety of tunes and, years later, led her to a career in music production for commercials, as the broad spectrum of daily creative briefs enabled her to quench this musical A.D.D.
Ceri Davies // Executive Producer
With more years than she’d care to mention - Ceri’s experience in sound post ranges from engineering, casting to producing and managing. Studying violin in her formative years and after a failed career as a child model, Ceri was drawn into the world of audio where she quickly found her love for sound for advertising. From the early heady days of cutting quarter inch tape and judging the Rock Eisteddfods, Ceri worked on recording and mixing soundtracks for commercials and short films. After a brief but fun stint in a casting consultancy she was called back to sound to look after Flagstaff, working with some of Melbourne's best engineers, and sharing the successes of multiple LIA, NY Festival Awards, Cannes Lions and of course our own Siren Awards for radio. With current interests ranging from embroidery, scuba diving, science fiction and learning the piano, Ceri really is only working until NASA calls her up to Space Camp.
Zac Colwell // Creative Director
Zac Colwell is an Austin, TX native who has been based in New York City since 2001. He grew up in a musical family playing drums, piano, guitar, saxophone, and flute, in that order.
He is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed around the world with many groups including Big Data, Sondre Lerche, of Montreal, Kishi Bashi, Against ME!, and others he can't remember right now. He is the drummer and producer of CHAPPO and sings his own songs with Fancy Colors. He produces many eclectic artists from psych-rock to Gnawa musicians from Morocco.
Paul Le Couteur // Head Sound Designer
Paul began his journey as a despatch boy at George Patterson in George St, Sydney in 1982. Working his way through despatch, media and the projection room (when TV commercials were shot, cut and finished on film), he found himself in the Audio Dept. Falling in love with sound, he fell in love a few years later with a Melbourne girl and moved to Melbourne where he has remained ever since honing his craft with every job. From Flint Webster to Flagstaff Studios and now to Nylon, Paul has accrued numerous awards from MADC, Award and Siren, to Singapore, Hong Kong, London, Hollywood and Cannes. He is the first sound engineer to win the Silver Siren for craft 3 years running.
Paul is driven by a desire to always provide the best solution to a challenge, and approaches every challenge with fresh eyes. His flair for direction and ability to carve a story from any brief is recognized throughout the industry. He loves sound in all its forms whether he is working with commercial post, radio, music, online or any new platform that is evolving into something different, tomorrow.
Deb Oh // Senior Producer
It would seem that a career in music has always been inevitable for Deb: a classically trained pianist from the age of three, she began composing at age ten, before becoming a singer-songwriter (which she continues to be).
Deb has utilized every ounce of her musical background as a music producer and supervisor in advertising. Combining production and post-production expertise with agency experience, she's developed an uncanny ability to anticipate and translate even the most nuanced creative needs, and help elevate messaging through music.
Whenever she isn't obsessively digging for new music, Deb is most likely trying to pet all the cute dogs she passes in NYC, curating playlists, or drinking endless La Croix — oh who are we kidding, she's probably doing all of the above, simultaneously.
Emma Hodge // Post Producer
Em has been working in the world of advertising for the past 7 years. Starting her career off at Spectrum Films, a post-production facility, which saw multiple national and international productions, including, Wolverine, Australia, Mao’s Last Dancer, and many more. After a few years, her go-get attitude pushed her to find a new role as a TV producer at advertising agency Ogilvy & Mather.
She learned the in’s and out’s of the agency world which then led her to RMK Management where she became an expert casting agent. Not only is she an expert in Voice Casting, her baking skills are just as refined. Sugar free only though, she is sweet enough.
In between completing her Marketing degree at QUT, Angelina started working in production for several film projects and after graduating with First Class Honours, she made the decision to move south of the border. Two months later, she found herself in Sydney and joining the Nylon team.
Along with one of Nylon’s senior sound engineers, Stuart St. Vincent Welch, she has brought Nylon's 15 years of award-winning expertise to the world of spatial sound and VR. A strong believer in multiplatform and immersive branded storytelling, she loves working on branded experiential audio from VR, AR to Installation work.
A self-confessed coffee snob and true Queensland girl, Ange can be found around Sydney’s inner west checking out the local music scene or practicing her tennis serve...always in her Adidas.
Chelsea Ramsden // Licensing Manager
Chelsea kicked off her licensing career at Universal Music Publishing, then moved onto music licensing for compilations such as So Fresh & Now.
For the past 4 years Chelsea has been working on various Synchronisation projects clearing tracks for Film, Television and Advertising.
Chelsea’s passion for Music and Entertainment began at a young age growing up with a family of music lovers, being wheeled from gig to festival.
Chelsea has a bachelor’s degree of Entertainment Business Management and is a specialist in the area of emerging artists, indie bands and contemporary pop, tho personally has a soft spot for good old rock & roll.
Alice Vanderwey // Producer
Alice’s venture into music and sound was only natural growing up in a Rock N’ Roll household where weekly rock quizzes and home gigs were the norm.
After moving to Melbourne in 2015, Alice dived into the advertising production world and was instantly hooked working in both agencies and production companies. Her diverse client network, unique industry experience and endless joyful enthusiasm, make her one of Nylon’s rising guns.
A newbie to piano playing, you’ll often find her practicing with one hand on the keys and a glass of red wine grasped in the other.
James Martell // Sound Designer
James' experience in the audio world spans advertising, television and feature films. He has perfected his craft as an audio engineer, laying tracks, recording and mixing hundreds of radio and television commercials for all of Australia’s major agencies and brands. He’s also a fitness fanatic and a master at preparing a semi-edible kale salad.
Stuart St. Vincent Welch // Sound Designer
Stuart left Sunny Brisbane for less-sunny London early in his sound career where he scored himself a Sound Designer role at the award winning Wave Studios London. In his 7 year stint at Wave he produced work for clients such as Nike, Olympics, Toyota and Carlsberg with Directors such as Jonathan Glazer, Chris Palmer and Paul Weiland.
Since returning from London, Stuart picked up an AGSC for Sound design with Ubisoft's Ghost Protocol by Emmy awarded director Patrick Claire and built up an impressive roster of work for clients such as Netflix, Adidas and Tiger Beer. Stuart's love for all things audio has lead him to work on various film and TV projects such the feature film Under the Skin and other ABC documentaries.
Ramsay Demarco // Sound Engineer
Ramsay De Marco is the name and sound is his game. With 15 years experience working in a professional capacity, Ramsay has worked on all audio projects from film to radio and everything in between. His work includes the Luke Nguyen Food series, The Project, Wolf Creek and, most recently, the short film, Babygirl, which was selected as one of the 18 Australian films selected to screen at the Palm Springs International Short Films Festival.
He has worked as the sole audio director and sound designer for Fox Footy for the past four years, responsible for all the aspects of on-air audio production and crafting the sound brand of Fox Footy. Ramsay brings a plethora of experience to the Nylon Melbourne team.
Adam Moses // Composer
Adam started playing music from a very early age. A trombonist, and a singer first, he moved on to the tennis racquet in front of the mirror at sixteen and was obsessed with guitars ever since. A bachelors in Jazz Performance from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a post-grad degree in Film Scoring from the prestigious Australian Film Television and Radio School have him in good stead as one of Australia’s best rising young composers in Film and TV. He has played and toured with some of Australia and the USA’s most valued performers, including: Marcia Hines, Ben Vereen, and Chris Potter to name but a few.
Jesse Watt // Composer
Jesse has composed music since the age of 5 and boasts a film scoring portfolio of over 50 shorts, documentaries and features films. Jesse has composed music for some of the biggest brands in the world including MasterCard, General Electric, Adobe, ANZ bank and many others. His film scores have reached festivals all over the world including winning ‘the Best Composer at the International Changzhi Film Festival 2014’, ‘Best Music at the SFS Sydney Film festival 2011, 12, and 13’ he has been featured playing piano on China’s CCTV network and supplied music for the UN Climate Change Summit ‘One Heart, One Tree’ in Paris for 2015. His music has also featured on UNICEF's 2016 Global commercial 'For Every Child'. Jesse is currently in the production of his second studio album under the alias ‘Jesse Dempsey’, and scoring an exciting Italian feature documentary ‘Balentes’.
Lydia Davies // Composer
Lydia Davies is a classically trained pianist who studied at the Yamaha Music School from the age of five. The Yamaha Music School quickly discovered that Lydia had perfect pitch and elevated her to their exclusive composition course at the tender age of six; this launched her passion for music composition. As well as being a talented composer, her fierce determination to succeed in the industry has led her to travel all over the world from studios in Los Angeles, to Abbey Road in London, and Luc Besson’s studios in Normandie, France. Lydia has several publishing deals with trailer houses. Her recent accolades include composing the music for the trailers of both Walt Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” and Warner Brother’s “Wonder Woman”. Her work on the Wonder Woman trailer has recently won best in show at the Golden Globe Trailer Awards, along with the top honor for "The Best Fantasy/Adventure trailer" and the music track she composed was called ‘What she is’.
Guy Brown // Composer
Since birth Guy's blonde hair, green eyes and obvious musical talent has landed him countless television ads, plus lead roles in the Australian productions of Oliver and Sound of Music, and performances with Opera Australia. Destined for a life somewhere in the music and sound industry, Guy went on to study a Bachelor of Audio Production at SAE. While learning the ins and outs of audio world, he continued to compose, write and record original music. If you're a Sydney local and happen to hang around any pubs or venues, it's likely that on a thursday or saturday night you might hear him gigging around town.
Scott Langley // Composer
Scott spent his early years studying classical music before becoming interested in jazz and going on to complete a Bachelor of Music (Jazz performance) at the Sydney Conservatorium. Scott then worked as a woodwind instrumentalist, performing and recording in various groups and ensembles. From there he focused his attention on composition and soon joined the international, award winning Nylon Studios. It's here that he has composed music for hundreds of commercials that have aired throughout Australia and around the world. Scott has honed his craft, composing and recording music in many different genres from folk and pop music through to full orchestral scores. Scott is also working on a new preschool animated series (that he created) called KAZOOPS! It's been fully financed by ABC for rights in Australia, the BBC for rights in the UK and Netflix for rights across the rest of the world. He also scored the entire series with his unique brand of folk pop.
Louis Schwadron // Composer
After Graduating with a Masters in Music from the Juilliard School, composer, arranger and performer Louis has recorded and toured with artists as varied as David Bowie, Radiohead, Rufus Wainwright, Elton John, The Polyphonic Spree, and has scored films and commercial soundtracks for directors John Cameron Mitchell and Mary Harron. Louis is in-house in New York for Nylon, but also DJs, and performs as front-man and producer for his psych pop alter-ego Sky White Tiger. He believes in the power of positive thinking.
Charlie White // Jnr Composer & Engineer
Charlie was raised on a healthy dose of Rock 'N Roll, spawning his navigation of the world of music from an early age. He began learning piano at the age of seven followed by a short stint on saxophone, before finding his perfect match in the electric guitar. Charlie's experience has seen him receive a nomination to perform at the Sydney Opera House as well as graduating from the world renowned AFTRS in Sydney with an Advanced Diploma in Music Scoring for the Screen. He achieved this whilst simultaneously dabbling in UTS' Sound Design course, setting himself up perfectly for a career in the music and audio industry. Outside of his time at Nylon he is either soaking up the Sydney music scene or sitting in a dark room composing, gearing up for the first release of his personal project, Patches Paradise.
Dan Paranese // Studio Assistant
While growing up in New Jersey, music was always an important part of Dan's life. He was exposed to many different genres from an early age, through his parents and older brothers, but it wasn't until he started making beats for rappers in high school that found that it was his passion. Today, he mainly spends his time working on his own projects, and recording friends.
Shanya Suppasiritad // Front of House
Shanya’s warm and vibrant personality has earned her the reputation as one of the kindest and funnest client service legend in the industry. Shanya began working in the industry 9 years ago at Post-House Digital Pictures in Melbourne. Throughout her time at DDP, Flagstaff, Illoura, Method studios and Sound Lounge, Shanya has built a strong client network, many of which have become close friends. One of her past clients has even become a co-founder to her wardrobe-sharing startup. Upon witnessing Shanya’s amazing dance moves at an industry party, Nylon decided to whisk her away from the soy lattes of Melbourne to Sydney. When Shanya isn’t working you can find her shopping around local boutiques, finding secret bars and restaurants or brewing on innovative startup ideas.
